  1. I Gotta Dog

About The Song…
♪♪♪ Dedicated to our childhood dog, Ribsy, and my Boxer, Brandy, who died during the recording of this album. They were the best audience this songwriter could ever have – especially when I was composing new tunes. See you again, Ribsy/Brandy at The Rainbow Bridge – until then be good! …This one is from the point of view of a child, Tommy. His parents fought an awful lot and they didn’t spend much time with him. They thought that a dog could keep him company. Certainly, the dog did… and Tommy made his own observations. Also dedicated to Marc’s Beagle, Bailey, who passed away at 17 years old during the mastering of the CD. Good Dog!

Lyrics

Well, every man should have a woman - Who loves him, like his dog loves him
And every woman should have a man - Who loves her, like her dog loves her

I gotta dog, well I’ve gotta dog
Ain't nothing in this world, quite like my dog

She’s loyal and proud - She's the queen of my yard
She takes my chair - She’s the house guard
She’s glad I made it home - And not just to feed her
She’s got limitless love -And I know I can please her

[REFRAIN]

A committed friend - An unbreakable bond
She says “I love you” - As she’s licking her chops
She’s the relative I chose - She matches my furniture
She’s always happy - We can learn from her

I’ve gotta dog, I’ve gotta dog
Ain't nothing in this world, quite like my dog
Oh, I’ve gotta friend, right there in my dog
Ain't nothing in this world, quite like my dog

Oh, everyone should have someone - Who loves them like their dog loves them
Oh, everyone should have someone - Who loves them like their dog loves them

[REFRAIN]

I’m always welcome - Even when I’m late
I got her at a rescue - But it’s me whose been saved
No bark or no growl - Approval with a sniff
Love’s the wag of her tail - But you better watch where you step

[REFRAIN]

Oh, I’ve gotta a dog, oh, I’ve gotta dog
Oh, I’ve gotta dog, yeah, I’ve got a dog
I’ve gotta dog – What a great friend
I’ve gotta a dog !
