About this song To me - this country is great because our people are great…I spent a significant amount of time in the 90’s working in many recording studios with a lot of great musicians, singers, engineers and producers around Philadelphia and neighboring locations. At that time, I was also trying to write for other artists and pitching jingles and was approached about composing “a patriotic song”. After I finished the demo of this tune, I decided I wanted it for the first album. Being a patriotic son of a patriotic Marine father, the song was very important to me. I think my favorite memory attached to this song is when it was receiving airplay on WPEN, a then major station in the Philadelphia and surrounding areas – and best of all it was my dad’s favorite radio station and he heard it on the air! To this day, it remains one of my favorite songs that I have ever written…As I wrote in the liner notes for the album this song first appeared on - “Fireworks remind me that I wouldn’t want to sleep under any other sky!”… (other than the skies above America).
